Sauber: Fight to Get Out of P10 Is Getting “Semi-Critical”
Sauber has yet to score a single point this season, and its deficit to ninth-placed Haas is now 36 points.
With just eight races remaining, the Swiss team is running out of time to improve its position in the constructors’ championship.
Team principal Frederic Vasseur admitted that the situation is becoming “semi-critical” for Sauber.
“We are in a difficult position, and we need to improve our performance as soon as possible,” Vasseur said.
“The fight to get out of P10 is getting semi-critical. We need to score points in the next few races, or it will be very difficult to catch up.
“We have a good car, and we know that we can be competitive. We just need to put everything together and start scoring points.”
Sauber’s best result of the season so far was 11th place at the Austrian Grand Prix.
The team has been hampered by a lack of pace, and it has also been unlucky with reliability issues.
Vasseur believes that Sauber can still turn things around, but he knows that time is running out.
“We need to find some performance, and we need to be more consistent,” Vasseur said.
“We have eight races left, and we need to score points in every race. It’s a big challenge, but we are up for it.”
Sauber’s next race is the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps on August 25.
