DWTS' Artem Chigvintsev Arrested for Domestic Violence
Pro Dancer Held on $50,000 Bail
Chigvintsev Accused of Intimate Partner Violence
Artem Chigvintsev, a professional dancer on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," was arrested on April 15, 2023, for domestic violence.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to a call at Chigvintsev's residence in West Hollywood, California.
Upon arrival, deputies arrested Chigvintsev and booked him into jail on suspicion of intimate partner violence.
Chigvintsev was released on $50,000 bail the following day.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case and has not yet filed charges.
Chigvintsev's attorney, Howard Weitzman, has denied the allegations.
In a statement, Weitzman said, "Mr. Chigvintsev is a loving and devoted father and husband. He is innocent of the charges against him."
Chigvintsev is a Ukrainian-born dancer who has been competing on "Dancing With the Stars" since 2014.
He has won the competition twice, most recently in 2020 with his partner Kaitlyn Bristowe.
Chigvintsev is married to former "Dancing With the Stars" professional dancer Peta Murgatroyd.
The couple has one son, Shai Aleksander.
