According to data from the Olympedia website, the United States currently holds the most medals won at the Summer Olympics since 1896.

Luge's Tragic Debut

The sport of luge made its Olympic debut in Innsbruck in 1964, but it was overshadowed by the tragic death of British slider Kazimierz Kay-Skrzypecki.

Current Medal Rankings

The graphic below shows the countries with the highest Olympic medal count of all time based on data from the International Olympic Committee. China and America currently rank 40th and 50th respectively, while India, which has won only 3% of all medals since 2000, ranks last.
